Meet Nils, the integration architect who returned

strandnissejpeg-2

I’ve been very interested in technology and learning how things work since childhood. That’s probably why I ended up working as an integration architect at Entiros. Keep reading to learn more about who I am and what I do.

Server room in my childhood bedroom

I grew up in Linköping with my mom and sister. Playing team sports was my favorite thing as a little boy. It was when my mom first got a home computer (remember that?!) that I developed a real interest in computers and technology. It wasn’t long before I took our home computer completely apart and configured it as a server. My childhood bedroom soon transformed into my own little server room. 🤓

Tried out four different roles in five years

Skipping ahead a few years, I studied applied systems science at Linköping University. I first got involved with Entiros at a job fair during my last year of school. I met with the CEO, and it clicked for me right away. A company that ONLY works with making sure that all of the systems work together for different companies? It sounded like a dream scenario. 🤩

So, I started working at Entiros as a system administrator and Support Specialist in the summer of 2014. Over the next five years, I had the opportunity to work with clients such as GANT, Volvo, Schibsted, and more, in a variety of different roles. I worked for one year as a Developer, one year as a Project Manager, and then two years as a System Architect and Technical Salesperson. It may not be for everyone to switch roles and completely shift focus so often, but for me, it was so much fun to have that opportunity.

Quit, but came back

After five years at Entiros and a move to Stockholm, I felt restless and thought it was time for something new. I quit my job at Entiros and started working as the product owner for integration at a watch company in Stockholm.

But now, two years later, I’m back at Entiros again. My fiancée and I decided to go to France and work from there for a while (in the middle of a pandemic, super smart!), but Entiros took me back with open arms. So now I’m working as an Integration Architect from France and enjoying life.

Working both strategically and operationally with a supportive team

In my current role as an Integration Architect, I primarily work with helping new clients understand their integrations. I work both strategically with planning and organization and a lot with the operational work of implementing integrations or APIs.

We have such a great team at Entiros, there is always someone to ask for help or brainstorm ideas with, even though I sometimes work with clients “alone.”

To work with a client “alone” is pretty unusual at Entiros, especially compared with other consulting firms. Our work is primarily team-based, and we rarely have only one consultant per client. It’s a nice feeling to know that there is always a team to back you up and never just one person who is solely responsible for each client.

Important to look forward to Monday more than Friday

It’s tremendously important for me to have a job where I can have fun and continuously develop my skills. We spend so much time at work, so I always want to be in a situation where I look forward to Monday more than Friday. It’s obviously really nice to be able to leave work behind and relax, but to start the week counting down the days to the end of the week isn’t sustainable for me.

At Entiros, I know I’ll always have friendly colleagues around me and interesting projects to work on, and that makes it feel fun to go to work. Or… put on my sweatpants and sit in front of the computer is what that looks like right now. 😉
