The little niche business that started influencing an entire industry

This is the story of Gustav, who goes to middle school and becomes a living integration. Sometime later, he discovers how much of a gap there is for delivery of good system integrations and founds the company Entiros. The aim of Entiros becomes not only being the best at integrations, but also influencing integrators all over the world.

A living integration

It’s 1992. Gustav Rosén is in middle school and is about to begin his first practical work experience. He gets a position at a manufacturing company and is really looking forward to it.

On the first day, his supervisor takes him to a room with an old dot matrix printer in it. It produces long continuous form paper that Gustav has to tear apart and sort into stacks.

Even though this doesn’t feel like an especially interesting task at the time, it seems quite clear when he looks back on this experience that Gustav was a living integration for these two weeks: He facilitated the transfer of information from a source to the correct recipient. But surely there must be a better way to do it?

Revelations lead to a seed taking root

A little while later, Gustav studies computer technology at Linköping University. His first job working with integrations is at ABB while he’s doing his thesis. But the company is bought by an American company – so Gustav moves to Pittsburgh, USA. There he realizes that it’s the strategy that determines how good an integration will be – something that many in the industry don’t really seem to care about.

A few years later he moves back to Sweden and starts working on the supplier side instead. What he notices during this time convinces him even more. On the one hand he sees how little is actually integrated, and on the other hand he sees how many operations are locked into their integration solutions.

He quickly realizes that someone needs to offer the tools and methods needed to develop the entire integrations industry. Someone who really understands integrations on a deeper level and can teach all of the integrators out there how it should be done.

Entiros is born and quickly wins big clients

Gustav decides to become this someone and founds Entiros AB in 2010 with the aim of being the best integration company in the universe. It starts off a bit shaky when their first client, Svensk Bilprovning, is put up for sale by the Swedish government at the tail-end of the project. But they quickly recover and bring in new, more stable, clients such as Gant, Schibsted, and Keolis.

Entiros delivers first-class integration solutions through their partnership with MuleSoft, but soon discovers more flexible solutions as well, and openness becomes a mantra.

Challenges the integration industry for an open world

In 2012, Gustav and the company take a big step towards making a difference for real. Although Entiros is still at its core a company that delivers integration services, it is also becoming more and more of a coach and trusted advisor for all.

The company launches the training and certification Certified integrator in 2017. Through this, Entiros gets to reach out to integrators all over the world with fundamental strategies and methods to create better and more sustainable integrations.

Once the Academy is going with the Certified Integrations and all, Gustav has a vision of a software that can easily organize and visualize large application networks. In 2019 this vision is realized with the launch of the SaaS product Entiros Starlify to great fanfare.

Integrations are more important than ever

It’s the present day and Entiros is acting in a rapidly changing world where integrations play a more important role. The team is stronger than ever, and Gustav is convinced that Entiros will continue to challenge the industry for better integrations and more openness for many more years to come. Gustav likes to say that there are two things above all that are required for success and international outreach: continuing to be the best at integrations, and a steady growth.

Gustav has come a long way in 30 years, from having been a living integration himself in middle school, to making his vision a reality. In just over ten years, Entiros has succeeded at becoming a strong player in the market: by integrators, for integrators. Who knows how much further Entiros will go in ten more years?
